Well, right after I had completed a major corporate identity redesign of the entire International Color Posters system, the owner had a cool new project for him to promote to potential customers–the nationwide DVD release of Spiderman 2 banner.

The project he wanted to promote was a building banner that was going on the side of a prominent multi-story building located on Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Los Angeles.

Since this promotional piece was being sent to primarily print producers and art directors, we decided to make the design a headline and reveal kind of layout. Inside would be all the fascinating statistics that an extremely large format project would produce – how many square feet of material, how many grommets, how much it weighed, etc. All that and some ”making of” photos of how the piece was printed, produced and assembled.

Of course, since the new press kit folders had a cool 4-color black, PMS hit and UV varnish in the signature target design, it had to have that, too. The neat thing about doing the project was scheduling and producing the helicopter photo shoot. That’s right, in a helicopter–no Photoshop cut and paste here.
