Here’s a recent logo design done for the relatively new online resource, TimeDog.com. TimeDog is a daily personal virtual assistant for busy folks (mostly moms) to get their every day tasks done when they are just a bit too stretched. They’ve got an actual person (yes, it’s true) on the line there to help you get things done.
So, in order to communicate this nifty service, TimeDog wanted to of course, incorporate a friendly pooch to illustrate the timely and efficient service-aspect of the organization. Alrighty then!
From there, I broke out the trusty sketchbook and scribbled out some ideas, eventually refining some strong favorites. Some of the dogs were more docile, some energetic and running – and some, well just plain cute.

The first round of concepts had a good variety of directions with a scampering and determined, tongue-wagging pup fetching a clock (my personal favorite) to a rather dry and humorous canine checking his watch. The paw print clock was pretty cool, too.

After that round, the client preferred the watch dog with some pretty significant changes. Out went the subtle approach in favor of a perky dog poking out of the circle. There was much consideration put into whether the clock was on the collar versus keeping the watch. Eventually, the watch won out. Then, as with all particular dog folks, adjustments to the shape of the snout, spot placement and the like evolves the character into your favorite breed.

After all was said and done, the final TimeDog went on to a begging position and a wagging tail and the logotype got a brighter shade. Then, the clock inside the interior of the ‘o’ was included to drive it all home. I’m not sure that was really that necessary looking back on it now, but that was how it went.

Overall, it was a fun and challenging logo character assignment. I wish the folks at TimeDog much success with their new endeavor. Give ‘em a try if you’re so inclined.
