Lexmark tree mailer design and illustration

Here’s a new self-mailer project I just completed for Lexmark and Ingram Micro. Not only was I the art director and designer for this particular piece, I also ended up illustrating it as well. I guess that’s what happens when you sketch the layouts pretty tightly, eh? It was a fun and challenging assignment to put together, nonetheless.

Essentially, we were trying to show that after all this time and evolution in the history of printing, the Lexmark inkjet was the next step in the ever-changing world of personal publishing. Yes, it is a bit heavy, but we felt this approach was a friendly and interesting way to tell the story – from Monk scribes to Gutenberg to the fax machine, to now. From wood grain to circuit boards and everything in between.

Give it a look see. I’ve even included a couple of close-ups so you can check out the details.

Much thanks to the folks at Ingram Micro here in Southern California for the assignment.
